چکیده

Robertsonian translocations (RT’s) are present in 0.1% of the general population and 1% of the infertile population. Two types of RT’s occur more frequently than all others, being 45,XX,rob(13;14)(q10;q10) and 45,XX,rob(14;21)(q10;q10) respectively. In the present report, an uncommon RT in a female with spontaneous repeated abortions is reported. Cytogenetic analysis of a couple with repeated abortions revealed the presence of 45,XX,rob(21;22)(q10;q10) chromosomal constitution in the female partner. The history of repeated abortions could be the outcome of unbalanced gametes (either monosomy or trisomy) resulting during the meiotic segregation of the balanced heterozygote female carrier.

Endometrial Ossification Following Repeated Spontaneous Abortions

Endometrial calcification along with ossification is an uncommon clinical entity. Most of the cases are asymptomatic or present with secondary infertility. Endometrial ossification associated with repeated abortions has been reported very infrequently. Here we report a case of endometrial calcification with ossification  due to retained fetal bony tissue in a 38 year old symptomatic female havi...

Balanced Chromosomal Rearrangement in Recurrent Spontaneous Abortions: A Case Report

One of the major causes of spontaneous abortion before the fourth month of pregnancy is chromosomal abnormalities. We report an unusual case of a familial balanced chromosomal translocation in a consanguineous couple who experienced 4 spontaneous abortions. Chromosomal studies were performed on the basis of G-banding technique at high resolution and revealed 46, XX, t (16 6) (p12 q26) and 46, X...

Familial translocation 15-22. A possible cause for abortions in female carriers.

A familial Robertsonian translocation 15/22 was ascertained through a female carrier whose four pregnancies ended in missed abortions. Eleven 15/22 translocation carriers were detected in three generations among 23 family members investigated. The four proven female carriers, apart from the proposita, have miscarried seven out of 14 pregnancies. The kindred suggests that the 15/22 translocation...

Molecular Dissection Using Array Comparative Genomic Hybridization and Clinical Evaluation of An Infertile Male Carrier of An Unbalanced Y;21 Translocation: A Case Report and Review of The Literature

Chromosomal defects are relatively frequent in infertile men however, translocations between the Y chromosome and autosomes are rare and less than 40 cases of Y-autosome translocation have been reported. In particular, only three individuals has been described with a Y;21 translocation, up to now. We report on an additional case of an infertile man in whom a Y;21 translocation was associated wi...
